Tensions between former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro reportedly escalated during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas early Friday morning.
According to reports, both NBA players were involved in a physical confrontation at an NBA Summer League practice facility. Sources indicate that Adebayo, the Heat's center, allegedly struck Herro, now a guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, in the head area. The NBA Summer League commenced in the Las Vegas area on Thursday. Herro was present at Friday's Bucks-Heat Summer League game held at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus.
Alleged Confrontation Over Social Media Comments
Sources familiar with the situation stated that Adebayo initially confronted Herro regarding alleged social media remarks that critiqued his defensive capabilities. These comments reportedly surfaced after a significant trade deal that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami and Herro to Milwaukee, marking the end of his tenure as Adebayo’s teammate on the Heat.
Screenshots purporting to show Herro questioning Adebayo’s defensive prowess in an Instagram direct message exchange with a fan circulated online.
Herro's Post-Game Appearance and Remarks
Following the Heat's 119-86 victory, Herro greeted Bucks Summer League players. He also had a brief conversation on the court with former Heat player and current Bucks forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. before departing the arena without publicly addressing the alleged incident with Adebayo.
During the game's broadcast on Prime Video, Herro spoke briefly, suggesting there was no awkwardness in seeing his former team.
"It's all love in Miami," Herro stated. "I've seen a couple of the guys, coaching staff, Chris Quinn, Spo [Erik Spoelstra], the front office guys; we are all good in Miami. Just an opportunity for both sides to reset, get a fresh start, and both are super happy with this."
