Representative Jasmine Crockett Faces Scrutiny Over Endorsement List Omission, Draws Rebuke from Former Colleague

Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, has faced criticism from a former congressional colleague for omitting James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Texas, from a recent list of endorsements. The list, issued Monday by Crockett’s Feuling Individual Rights Everywhere (FIRE) PAC, did not include Talarico, who had defeated Crockett in the party’s Senate primary earlier this year.

Former Representative Susan Wild, a Pennsylvania Democrat who served three terms in Congress, characterized Crockett's endorsement choices as prioritizing personal sentiments over the Democratic Party's electoral success in Texas.

"F--- her. That’s all I can say. And that statement has nothing to do with blind loyalty to Dems," Wild stated in a post on X. "It has everything to do with her being a narcissistic drama queen who has used her platform (such as it is) only to advance herself. Karma will suck."

Past Controversies and Rhetoric

Wild’s strong condemnation adds to a series of controversies surrounding Representative Crockett. A progressive voice within her party, Crockett has gained national attention for her outspoken rhetoric, often urging the Democratic Party to adopt more left-leaning stances.

Her past remarks have frequently drawn public scrutiny. These include referring to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, as "Governor Hot Wheels," describing Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia as having a "beach-blond, bad-built, butch body," and characterizing some MAGA Latino voters as having a "slave mentality."

More recently, Crockett faced backlash for formally acknowledging musician Chris Brown’s musical legacy within the Black community in the congressional record, despite his documented history of violence against women.

Crockett's Response and Prior Endorsement

Representative Crockett responded publicly to Wild and other critics, emphasizing that she had personally congratulated Talarico after his primary victory over her in March.

"Y’all are corny! Keep receipts. I’ll be happy when people either give a damn about FACTS or news media goes back to the news instead of deciding to ride the tabloid lane. NOW FOR THE 1000th time maybe write an article about KEN F*in PAXTON. Y’all sound like corny groupies," Crockett wrote.

It is important to note that Crockett, who lost to Talarico with 46.2% of the vote compared to his 52.4%, did endorse him the day after the primary results were finalized. At that time, she issued a statement:

"This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee. Texas is primed to turn blue, and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person. This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track. With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win."

"I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot."

Crockett’s FIRE PAC, which has raised $144,960, primarily focuses on smaller-scale electoral contests. All 14 candidates included in the endorsement list highlighted by Wild are running for state or local offices. Gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa was also not featured on the list.
