The entrance gate to music icons Beyoncé and Jay-Z's East Hampton property sustained considerable damage on Wednesday afternoon when a man allegedly crashed his vehicle into it, according to local law enforcement. Authorities confirmed that the front gate suffered "significant front end damage." A witness present at the scene observed the driver, identified as Webster, operating his vehicle at a "high rate of speed up the driveway" before it collided with the barrier and came to a stop within the couple's private estate.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Following the incident, Webster's vehicle was impounded by law enforcement officials, where it is being held as evidence. During his processing, Webster reported an injury and was subsequently transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for medical attention. After receiving care, he was released and returned to police custody.
Court Appearance and Protection Order
Webster appeared for his arraignment on Thursday, where Justice Steven Tekulsky issued a stay-away order of protection. This order prohibits the 63-year-old from attempting to contact either Beyoncé or Jay-Z. Reports indicated that Webster seemed "disorientated" during the court proceedings, leading to his transfer to Stony Brook University Hospital’s mental health facility for a comprehensive evaluation.
Detective Sergeant Jennifer Dunn confirmed that the motivation behind the incident remains under active investigation. She also noted that Webster does not have any prior criminal record.
