Music icon Jay-Z is confirmed to perform at Super Bowl LXI. Apple Music revealed that the acclaimed music executive will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, making the announcement during the halftime segment of Monday's NFL game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
The upcoming Super Bowl LXI event is scheduled for February 14, 2027, and will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Apple Music shared the news on social media, stating, “GOAT’s out of the bag,” and tagging Jay-Z in their post.
Anticipation Builds for Super Bowl LXI
This confirmation follows earlier reports suggesting Jay-Z was a leading candidate for the highly sought-after halftime slot. Speculation had indicated his selection over other prominent artists like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. Previous discussions also mentioned Harry Styles as a potential performer for the event.
Since 2019, Jay-Z, through his entertainment enterprise Roc Nation, has played a significant role in producing and selecting artists for the Super Bowl halftime spectacle. This upcoming performance will be his first time as a headliner.
A Familiar Stage and Storied Career
The 56-year-old artist is familiar with SoFi Stadium, the venue for the upcoming Super Bowl. He recently concluded his “Jay-Z 30 Tour” with two consecutive performances at the stadium on October 23 and 24.
This four-city tour commemorated the 30th anniversary of his seminal 1996 debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.” Three successive shows held at Yankee Stadium in July reportedly generated over $42 million in revenue.
A recipient of 25 Grammy Awards, Jay-Z holds the distinction of being the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His most recent album, “4:44,” was released in 2017.
Although this will mark Jay-Z's debut as a Super Bowl halftime headliner, his wife, Beyoncé, previously commanded the stage in 2013 in New Orleans. She made another appearance in 2016, performing alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars in Santa Clara, California.
